We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. These bodies of ours are constantly facing death just as Jesus did; so it is clear to all that it is only the living Christ within who keeps us safe. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 Living Bible (TLB) Life in this world can be difficult. Yet, we were created by God and made able to survive. Trials come but we are sustained. As we look back on our lives, we all have a story to tell. At some point in every single existence, we each have gone through something that seemed too hard to bear, but we made it through. Surely it was not because of how tough we try to be because we are not tough. We are fragile and easily broken. Had we been so strong and mighty in and of ourselves, we would not have suffered such an ordeal. We would not have experienced the distress that caused so much misery. The pain would not have knocked us off our feet. But it did. We get up and keep going because God picks us up so that we can keep going. God's power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When we are surrounded by trouble, we may feel like giving up but something inside will compel us not to give up. At that moment, as we begin to wonder what's the use in trying, some of us pray. Some of us cry out to God for help with faith that He can fix whatever is wrong. We gain strength as we realize that God will never abandon us and that He is always with us, and in us, helping us as we "go through." God promises that absolutely nothing can separate us from His love. We have Christ to thank for that. We have only to believe in what Jesus did and still does to be able to put our trust in Him. Because of His promises, we can be confident that the issues we face in life shall all pass. He who offers us forever in God's Kingdom will get us there if we follow Him. In fact, He is preparing our places right now. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” John 14:1-3 NIV
