A Week in Acts 2: Fellowship

Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47 New Living Translation (NLT) Imagine a world in which people are devoted to worship, praise and fellowship. Not just on Sundays while attending church services and sometimes on Wednesday nights for Bible study, but every day as the early disciples did. Ponder a planet where people share all they have so that no one has need of the basic necessities of life. Envision a world where we all are "haves" and there are no "have nots" and where every heart is filled with the love of Christ and love for one another. This is what God had in mind when He spoke the world into existence. But not long after God created this world in which we live to be a paradise for us, sin slid into that garden and everything changed. Yet, God's plans for us did not. God is good and His mercy endures forever. God is love. He hasn't given up on us. He just decided to fulfill His purpose for our lives in another way. His plans will still prevail and He gave the part of Himself that is His Son to make it happen. His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses and He knows every one for He examines our hearts. He demonstrates patience and kindness and compassion, and He's waiting for us to learn to do the same. We must embrace God's grace for without it, we are doomed. We must obey His command to love and care for each other. Jesus walked the earth and gave us an example to follow. How long do we have to get it right? Don't wait too long because His Kingdom is coming. God will have His way. Believe it! I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:3-4 NLT
