Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Ephesians 6:10-16 New International Version (NIV)

Getting dressed up can be fun. We don our fancy outfits and step out with confidence that we are looking good! But are we safe in only those stylish clothes if danger lurks in the shadows? The Word of God tells us to be fully prepared and dressed to withstand the evil that surrounds us. In full armor, we are to take our stand against the spiritual forces of darkness. Truth, righteousness and faith must be in our wardrobe in order to quench those fiery darts that will surely come our way. Feet ready to run and share the Gospel are needed to keep evil at bay.

Sometimes we don't like to think about the trouble in this world but this makes us targets. But we don't need to just think about it. We must be ready for it. God is a very present help in trouble but we have got to do what He tells us in His Word. As we follow His instructions, we can have confidence that nothing in this world can harm us because in addition to looking good, we are outfitted to stand in the midst of anything that comes against us.

In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me? Psalm 56:11 NIV

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken! Isaiah 54:17 NLT
