Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
James 1:12-15 New International Version (NIV)
One reason God gave us freewill may be so we can't blame Him when we mess up. God is good. God is holy. He doesn't do evil. He doesn't tempt us to do wrong. In fact, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die so that we may be forgiven for our sins, especially when we fall into temptation. Christ reconciled us to God the Father with His blood, literally saving our lives. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 NIV
The enemy of our souls is the tempter and in this, he does not discriminate. He even tried to tempt Jesus (Matthew 4:1). Be alert! Satan will try to tempt everyone to death until God finally says "That's enough." And one day He will. In the meantime, remember God is faithful. He will not allow us to be tempted more than we can stand against. He will always provide a way out and as we follow His Son, we discover He already has.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
