With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:6-8 NIV
What in the world can we give to our sovereign God to show our appreciation for who He is? How do we please Him? What do we have that He did not first give to us? We can give Him back our hearts, full of mercy and justice and love. We can serve Him with humility, laying aside the pride we like to take in the abilities He alone has provided. We can give back to our Creator the good which He has already placed in us. God is good all the time and by this He has shown us what is good. He simply requires that we follow our Leader.
