Things God Hates!

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Proverbs 6:16-19 New International Version (NIV) Is it hard to imagine our loving and faithful Heavenly Father actually hating something? According to His Word, there are definitely some things He does not like. As God examines minds and hearts, He knows our motive and intent for things we do that do not please Him. As Jesus stated that our greatest commands from God are to love Him and love our neighbor, we also have Scripture telling us those things that He absolutely hates and forbids us to do. It's not hard to understand why our Lord God hates these seven things. This list includes being prideful, lying, murdering, planning harm to others and outright evil behavior. These things are not of God but they happen every day. Sometimes people even do them in God's name as they try to justify not being obedient to the two greatest commands which call us to love. We can try to fool each other, but we can't fool God and He will not be mocked. As we live in grace and mercy through the love of Jesus Christ, let's try to steer clear of doing those things God has already declared He detests. To live a blessed life in this world, we need to embrace God's never-failing love and not be doing things He hates. Amen?
