Slipping

I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Psalm 94:18-20 New Living Translation (NLT)

We all have these days of doubt and fear. Pessimistic thoughts flood our minds and we are consumed by what we feel we cannot accomplish or what could go wrong. However, it doesn't have to be this way. Even as we sometimes succumb to these negative emotions, those who put their trust in God have a sovereign Friend to cry out to who is always ready to help us. A supernatural Friend who loves us, who is all powerful and who already knows all our troubles. He is the One who is able and can remove all doubt.

God's love is unfailing and supportive. If He helps us when we don't even know to ask for help, how much more will He help us when we cry out for help? God promises strength in our weakness because His strength is perfected in our weakness. He knows that we need His help. He simply wants us to realize that we need Him and to put our hope and trust in Him. He likes it when His children call Him "Daddy."

Let's be thankful today for the blessed assurance that if we start slipping into the darkness of doubt, all we have to do is call upon the Lord to keep from falling headlong into it. He is near. He won't let us fall. He will catch, comfort and renew us. That's what He does!
