“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. for everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Those who pray to God sometimes wonder if God hears their petitions. We pray and wait for an answer from a God we cannot see and do not always understand. In some cases, we don't like His answer. But then we are left with realization that it is His will and not ours that is being done. Giving up on God at this point is not a good choice. Usually, what God has chosen to do at this moment that is not what we wanted will require further help from Him. Jesus calls for us to keep asking and keep searching and keep knocking on God's door in order to endure the trial before us that may be inspiring our prayer. This takes faith.
When we pray for something and don't get it, we have to accept that our view is limited and God's is not. That "thing" we want may not be for our good. As God works EVERYTHING out for our good and His glory, He may allow us to one day see why and be thankful that He denied a particular request. However, we can be certain that as we seek favor from God, we must believe He is who He says He is and can do anything He chooses to do. Seeking Him in earnest guarantees we will receive His best reward and answer to our prayers.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 NIV
