Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will reap a crop of my love; plow the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower salvation upon you.
Hosea 10:12 Living Bible (TLB)
Throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to "seek" God. This may be a very difficult thing to comprehend for those who are not looking for a savior. We should all be looking for a better way of life than that which we experience so often in this fallen world. Yet, suicide rates indicate that many people reach the end of their hope without realizing that there is help to live as we seek God. Our Creator has already sought us out. He determined that we would be born before we were conceived. He desires we worship Him and bids us all to look for Him now, while He is looking for us.
The sacrifice of Jesus' life on the Cross demonstrates a selfless love that mankind did not request. We cannot claim to be seeking God if we are totally consumed by satisfying our own desires. This "about me" thing is not of God. According to Jesus, the most important commandments are to love God and love our neighbors. Our understanding of the term "looking out for number one" tends to get twisted. God's Word is clear that He is "Number One" and we each fall in third place behind everybody else. We make it to the "number two" spot by loving our neighbors and our neighbors loving us as all are commanded to do.
God will not be hard to find right now for those who seek Him because He is presently working all things out for our good and His glory. We must look for Him now while He still can be found. We must look for Him while He is still looking for those who seek Him.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6 ESV
