Perfect Love

This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:17-19 New International Version (NIV) What do we know about love? What is perfect love? We would not know anything about love at all or what it is or how to do it if God had not demonstrated His perfect love for us first. His love alone shows us why we need never be afraid to love. When we get confused about what true love is, all we have to do is ask our Heavenly Father to show us how to love perfectly. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile us to His love and when we believe this, we can ask Him anything and He will answer. There are two things Christ commands us to do concerning love: we are to love God back and love each other. Perfectly and without fear. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10 NIV
