Avoid Divisive Persons
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
Romans 16:17-18 NKJV
Scripture is to be used for teaching and learning God's ways. Even as the country is divided today, the Bible is unambiguous on divisiveness. Christ gave His life to reconcile mankind to God and to unite us with each other. There is no "us" and "them" as we follow Jesus. In God's Word, believers are instructed to be discerning. So what does that leave us with? When we see with our own eyes things happening in the world today that are clearly contrary to the Word of God, we may need to rethink who we allow to lead us in a different direction and even avoid them. Or, at the very least, we are not to attribute this behavior to being of God. Ours is a jealous God and He will not be mocked.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness . . . . 2 Timothy 3:16 NIV
