Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord. Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble and never stop praying.
Romans 12:11-12 Contemporary English Version (CEV)
How can our hope bring gladness when we feel so deeply despondent? Where can we find patience when life is beating on our doors demanding something from us right now that we do not have to give? What keeps us from giving up when every opening we approach seems to close firmly in our faces? Paul says to "follow the Holy Spirit and serve the Lord" and "never stop praying."
When our hope is in the Lord, we can always find a reason to rejoice. We may not feel like rejoicing or believe joy is even possible in the midst of trouble, but we can count on it as we follow Christ through the Holy Spirit indwelling our hearts. My hopelessness dissipates when I share God's Word to me with others. My patience expands and strengthens even as I continue to endure the trials. God may have to work on me every day, but He is faithful to give me new mercy EVERY morning! Thank You, Jesus!
We don't really know or understand what is happening in this world right now. But as we believe and trust in Jesus Christ, we have God's Word to confirm everything will eventually be all right and that we can be glad and rejoice in this truth right now!
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NKJV
