Never Forsaken

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:46 NKJV We know what it feels like to be forsaken by people. At some point in every life, whether real or imagined, we have all experienced abandonment — feeling left out, left behind, or openly betrayed by someone we love and who we thought loved us. Well, imagine hanging on a cross, being put to death for something you did not do. In the case of Christ, He was executed for the things everybody else did! Yet, His cry was not directed to those He was dying for, but straight to God. Whether guilty or not, at this moment in His life, He felt forsaken by His Father. His pain came from His heart and not from the wounds He bore. However, this was His mission and He fulfilled it. Because He did this, if we believe He did this, we will never be forsaken by our Heavenly Father. When God looks at those who believe in His Son, God sees our Intercessor and the sacrificial blood He shed on that cross to remove our sin. This is His plan of redemption. It is in Jesus Christ's righteousness we stand forgiven and all He asks in return is that we accept this truth and live like we appreciate His gift of grace. And even then, He will help us to do it, if we ask. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
