God of the Living

But in the account of the burning bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.

Luke 20:37-38 NIV

Many view death as the end of life. However, God's Word tell us that eternal life begins with our salvation. The death we know is simply a transition. Jesus tell us that our Heavenly Father is not the God of the dead because He views us as all being alive as we follow Christ. His plan is for us to live forever in His Kingdom and we begin the process while we live now. Jesus gave His life to free us from death. Let's think about that the next time we grieve over the loss of a life. Who is the loser? Our loved one is moving on to greater heights. Our transition is yet to come. But we're all alive to God.
