Crazy?

Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us, so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.

2 Corinthians 5:12-14 New Living Translation (NLT)

Are we out of our minds? Some call us crazy for believing in a God we do not see and having faith through a Book written by fallible humans. We are often deemed fanatical as we wait for a Savior to come back who rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven. When Jesus returns, pure shock will light up the eyes of those who do not believe for they will see Him too. Right now, it is much easier to believe that someone we can see who has wealth and accomplishment, whether by moral means or not, as being great and worthy of praise and allegiance. The notoriety of such people is sometimes ignored even by those who do believe in Christ, because some are blinded by the glamorous life they seem to lead. God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise for a reason (1 Corinthians 1:27).

Jesus came to us through humble means. He came to save a world full of people full of sin. His "spectacular ministry" found Him homeless but blameless and ended with His death on a cross for the very people who put Him there and all people yet to come. Christ showed us what a sincere heart actually was and offered new life that would be eternal life for all who would believe in who He is and follow His ways.

We, who have accepted that Jesus Christ is the Savior who died for us all, have also died to our old lives. We don't follow trends. We follow Jesus. Our old lives consisted of believing only in what we could see and much of what we see now doesn't look very good. We walk by faith and not by sight because the enemy controls much of what we are seeing these days in order to deceive many. Don't be deceived. Our Lord controls the enemy too.

"If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God."
