Children of God
The Lord is merciful! He is kind and patient, and his love never fails. The Lord won’t always be angry and point out our sins; he doesn’t punish us as our sins deserve.
How great is God’s love for all who worship him? Greater than the distance between heaven and earth! How far has the Lord taken our sins from us? Farther than the distance from east to west!
Just as parents are kind to their children, the Lord is kind to all who worship him, because he knows we are made of dust.
Psalm 103:8-14 CEV
It is through His love God grants us mercy. What we do and do not do that is outside of the will of God is handled similarly to how parents are to treat their children. They do not cease to love them because they have misbehaved because they know they are dealing with children. Our Creator knows who He has made and how He made us. God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bring us into a right relationship with Him and to confirm us all as children of God. Jesus, who was without sin, took the punishment we deserve for our sin to enable us to give our Heavenly Father what He asks from us— our worship. He wants the same thing He lavishes upon us with every breath we take—our love.
