Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace? Then learn to know him better and better. For as you know him better, he will give you, through his great power, everything you need for living a truly good life: he even shares his own glory and his own goodness with us! And by that same mighty power he has given us all the other rich and wonderful blessings he promised; for instance, the promise to save us from the lust and rottenness all around us, and to give us his own character.
But to obtain these gifts, you need more than faith; you must also work hard to be good, and even that is not enough. For then you must learn to know God better and discover what he wants you to do. Next, learn to put aside your own desires so that you will become patient and godly, gladly letting God have his way with you.

God is good all the time. But are we? Those who trust in the Most High God believe He sent His only Son Jesus to die for our sins. We have faith that He is a very present help in trouble and that He abundantly and consistently blesses us with His loving-kindness. Yet, when we pray, we are usually asking for more of something. God's Word tells us that as we devote our lives to trusting Him, He will provide for all our needs and even some of our heart's desires as they line up with His will. Still we find ourselves wanting more. More what? Peter asks us a question that we should answer each time we make our petitions known to our Heavenly Father. "Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace?"
We want more money, more time, more stuff, and usually more of everything we already have. Asking for more of something means we must already have some of what we are asking for. As believers in Christ, we need to know Him more. We need more faith in Him. We need to serve Him more. We need to love Him more. For as we do, He will give us all we need to help us to live good lives in a "rotten" world. We are blessed with so very much as we trust in God and He has promised us even more. How much more can He offer us than eternity in His Kingdom where we will want no more? Let's give God more glory for all He has already given us and let Him have His way in our lives. He wants more for us than we even realize we need more of.
