For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its shoots will not cease. Though its root grow old in the earth, and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put out branches like a young plant.
Job 14:7-9 ESV
Does a tree literally hope in God? As humans, we can't know the desires of a tree. We can only watch them grow. We can also see them cut down. Yet in utter amazement, we also are sometimes allowed to see them sprout back to life, beginning again to reach for the sky toward the Creator God who is the Source of all that lives. Our Heavenly Father is the God of second, third and countless chances. It is He who establishes what will be. When He made us in His image, He established our potential. He created us to be greater than any other living thing on the earth and He determined then to help us be just that. There is hope in believing that God cares for us and will finish the good work He has begun in us, no matter how bad things may seem. If there is hope for a tree, surely we can trust in our hope in God. Keep the faith and keep hope alive!
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26 NIV
