Let's Talk

This Is Not Our Fight!

“O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”

As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children, the Spirit of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there.

He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says:  Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

2 Chronicles 20:12-15 New Living Translation (NLT)

Sometimes life leaves us feeling a bit helpless.  It's as if an army of problems arise against us slamming us in every direction at one time.  Believers in Christ are not promised a trouble-free existence.  In fact, God's Word says we will face many trials and tribulations as we live in this world.  Still, Jesus tells us to be of good cheer because He has already overcome the world.  Sometimes life makes being cheerful as we go through things seem like a hard thing to believe in, much less do.  And that's just what the enemy of our souls wants us to think.  He's a liar.

This is not our fight.  This is spiritual warfare.  This battle is between our already defeated foe and our all-powerful, almighty, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, awesome God, who rules over everything.  The enemy lost his fight with God for our souls and our hope when Jesus gave His life on that Cross and we claimed Him as our Savior.  Now that loser desperately attempts to steal our joy and destroy our faith because he knows his time is short.

Our battle is to keep believing in our Savior when the world looks dark and remember what He did to save us and all that we are promised as we believe in the One who never fails.  Our battle is to keep the faith and remain hopeful as we trust in God.  And the most important thing to remember as we go through our battles is that He helps us fight them too.
