Let's Talk

I will not be afraid, because the Lord is with me.  People can’t do anything to me.

Psalm 118:6 New Century Version (NCV)

The Psalmist gives good counsel in this verse.  It puts life into perspective to believe that God is greater than anything or anyone we could possibly fear.  Through Jesus Christ, we can trust that God is always with us.  He is our refuge and a very present help in times of trouble.  It is comforting to know that anything bad that happens must first pass through our Savior and God will use it for our good.

On the other hand, we can't be the ones who cause others to be afraid.  We can't be the "people" God guards against or protects others from and expect God's constant presence to enable us to hurt or cause anyone else to fear.  As we follow Christ, we are commanded to serve and do no harm to others.  We are commanded to help other people. We are commanded to love.

The enemy of our souls has to get permission from God to come against His children.  As Believers in Christ's power and authority, we are protected from those attempts to destroy us.  Greater is He who is within us than he who is in this world.  This goes for "people" too.  No weapon formed against those belonging to Christ will prosper; but "people" who seek to harm any of those who belong to Him need to be very afraid.

No man is an island and we all need one another. Oh what joy in being able to help someone. We need one another.
