Jesus, the Messiah

The people surrounded him and asked, “How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

Jesus replied, “I have already told you, and you don’t believe me.  The proof is the work I do in my Father’s name.  But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep.  My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish.  No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else.  No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.  The Father and I are one.”

John 10:24-30 New Living Translation (NLT)

Even before Jesus went to the Cross to ensure our salvation, He was the Big Brother taking up for those He called His own:  His sheep.  The Son of God spent this time walking around healing, feeding, loving and explaining what was going to happen and how those who followed Him must live in this world, survive in this world, and receive the ultimate gift of grace that is eternity in God's Kingdom.  That's what God had sent Him to do.  People just had to listen and believe the truth He was trying to reveal.  Many did not understand it and many more did not believe it.  Those who were religious even had Scripture that foretold of the coming of Christ, the Messiah.  Yet, when He came, Jesus didn't fit the description of the Savior they had in mind or how He would accomplish the will of God.  Jesus was mocked all the way to His death.  And even as He died, He asked God to forgive them.  He already knew the plan.  He would die for the sins of man, rise from the grave to ascend to the Father and come back to clean up later, giving us time to finally know the truth and believe it, then share this Good News lovingly with others.

As we now believe, we must keep in mind that God is stronger than any problem or any foe we face.  Before anybody even tries a tug-of-war pulling us from Him, they have already lost the game.  Those who are His sheep are securely held in His grasp and He knows who belongs to Him.  He is looking at our hearts.  This awesome power, might and strength is also full of compassion and mercy for all.  He doesn't want to lose any of us.  And once we confess Him as Lord by faith and all that entails, NO ONE can snatch us away!  Glory!!!
