Let's Talk

This World

Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing.  That’s the most sensible way to serve God.  Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.

I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are.  Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you.  A body is made up of many parts, and each of them has its own use.  That’s how it is with us.  There are many of us, but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another.

Romans 12:1-5 Contemporary English Version (CEV)

In an ever-changing world filled with new and different ideas and ways of doing things, it is comforting to know that God is good and He remains the same.  Although His Word is translated into many languages and different versions of the Bible abound, the command that its meaning should not be altered is written in every one (Revelation 22:18).  The Holy Spirit makes certain of how we receive God's Word and helps to change the way we think when we submit to His leading and seek understanding.

We have to depend on our never-failing God to not conform to this world because He put us here with freewill to serve Him and have faith in who He is.  He gave us the option to recognize our limitations and to choose what we want to do about them.  I believe He gave us freewill just to see if we would realize that our only choice is to give our freewill right back to Him.  How else can we pray "Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven"?  But He does give us a choice.

Life is short, even for those who live a hundred years.  We are all in this together no matter how far apart we may feel.  Those who believe in Christ are each a part of His body and through Him we are a part of one another.  Sometimes this world is not a happy place but loving each other goes a long way in pleasing God and makes it much easier to live here without going crazy trying not to conform to this world.
