Let's Talk

What We Are Called To Do

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.  Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus.  So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.  All power to him forever!  Amen.
1 Peter 5:6-11 New Living Translation (NLT)

Be humble and alert.  We are called to be humble as we live life on this planet in reverence to our Heavenly Father for in Him there is total power to keep us from harm. He promises to do this and He never breaks a promise.  Yet, we are also called to be alert.   We must be able to discern what is going on in the world and be watchful for imminent danger.

God is real but so is evil because God allows it for now.  And no, I don't know why.  Jesus faced it on the Cross but He overcame it, just for us.  He suffered.  He died.  But He rose from that grave, ascended to the Father's right hand, and will return to put an end to the madness in this world.  The WHOLE world!

We remain humble before God by trusting Him when we see trouble but not retaliating.  We are instructed to give our worries to God and reminded that there's nothing better we can do because He is in charge.  So as we beat our heads against the wall in frustration (sometimes making ourselves suffer), let's remember that after the pain, Christ is going to fix everything.

Now this calls for faith, but that is also what Believers are called to do.  Look to the Hills! Our Help is coming.
