And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Mark 4:37-41 New King James Version (NKJV)
You, who were, are and is to come, are the God over all. You rain on the just and the unjust and desire that none should perish. You summon us to Your Throne of mercy and grace to receive Your love and protection as we put our faith in Your power to sustain Your creation. You confirm in Your Word that we have but to believe and trust in You to keep us in Your constant care. You guide us with Your constant presence. Yet, we doubt and fear. Help our unbelief! Increase our faith!
Thank You for who You are and all you do each day to demonstrate Your power. You have promised to always be with us and we call on You now to strengthen our faith in the fact that You will do exactly that. Forgiven of sin by the blood of Jesus, we are redeemed and are kept safely in Your hands. This coming storm is Yours to deal with and we are powerless in its path. Desperately dependent, we place its effects at Your feet. Help us to remember and trust in Your power to do all that needs to be done as You guide us through whatever preparations we must make because none of them will help without Your power to make them work. Only You can stop the wind and rain from bringing devastation upon us. Cover us with Your love and be glorified as You provide grace and mercy, once again.
In the matchless name of Jesus I pray.
